Exploring the Adobe Creative Suite

In the Fall of 2024, I had the pleasure of refreshing my Adobe Creative Suite skills, through a micro-credential offered by my local college, through a government funded program called the BC Future Skills Grant.

This grant offers BC residents up to $3500 to choose from a variety of courses offered through many post-secondary institutions throughout the province.

I got to be reminded of how fun the old Photoshop and Illustrator tools are, while also checking out some of the new AI upgrades.

The following is a a collage of elements borrowed to create my final piece, the “Cryptic Oracle Tarot Deck,” followed by the final product itself.

Enjoy!

The Building Blocks

This section showcases the inspirations, source materials, and transformed visuals that formed the foundation of this project. Each element played a role in shaping the final design, illustrating the journey from concept to creation.

The Cryptic Oracle Realized

Welcome to the final stop on this creative journey!

After pulling inspiration from so many places and experimenting with ideas and techniques, I’m excited to share how it all came together.

Each card reflects a mix of thoughtful design and storytelling, capturing the mysterious and eerie vibe that I envisioned, drawing directly from the Rider-Waite Tarot decks, with its own unique twist.

I love the imagery of tarot cards, how the interesting elements opens the mind to various interpretations of what the cards might mean. So, I wanted to play with that, following the theme of mysterious/eerie animals, using them as the new focus in the reading.

Through this theme, I was able to find a variety of ways to play around with different tools in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, giving me a stronger understanding and comfortability with the programs.

These cards are as they were meant to be—a unique tool for reflection and discovery.

I hope you enjoy exploring it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
