THE WHITEBOARD PROJECT
I began teaching in early 2021, and started the way most new teachers do these days, as a substitute. This meant I was constantly meeting new students, in different classes, in different schools every day. If you can think back to when you were a student with a sub, the first thing they would usually do is write their name on the whiteboard (or chalkboard, depending on how much you want to date yourself).
This has been my tiny way of being a little creative everyday, and hopefully inspiring others to be creative, as well.
Student Input
In June of 2024, while on a contract for a maternity leave, in a grade 2/3 class, I had a student who started making his own designs of my name. I decided to recreate his design, and then offered to the rest of the class to come up with their own designs. At the beginning of the day, I would pick a new design at random and recreate it. Here are the results.
